Each year, the PA Department of Labor & Industry captures data to determine the High Priority Occupations (HPO’s) for the State. The HPO’s are job categories that are in demand by employers, have higher skill needs, and are most likely to pay family sustaining wages.
Our local workforce investment area further researches HPO’s for determination of industries that are driving employment/wages for the area. Based on the 2012 Industry Cluster Analysis (latest study), the anticipated growth is in Health Care, Construction, Energy, Advanced Manufacturing, and Metals industries. Additionally, a number of individuals are projected to retire in the manufacturing sector and the industry is faced with a limited pipeline of future workers.
Below is information to help you better understand the energy and advanced manufacturing industries and where you could possibly create a career.
